With a student/instructor ratio of 3 to 1, and a maximum of 6 students registered per class, Kristie's qualified instructors are able to provide individual instruction for each child during their 30-minute lesson.  All pool staff are certified in CPR and First Aid.  Instructors and Assistant Instructors are certified lifeguards.  Please feel free to stop in and watch one of our lessons.

Parent-Child (ages 6 months - 2 years)

This progressive class focuses on getting children comfortable in an aquatic environment.  Children will develop familiarity with going under water and working with our instructors.  Parent participation is required for safety reasons.

 

Silly Fish (ages 18 months - 2 years)

This class is designed for children that have gone through our Parent/Child class or older children that are not quite ready to participate in class without a parent.  Sea Horse 1 skills will be introduced with the goal of completely separating students from parents.

Sea Horse (ages 2 - 3 1/2 years)
Level 1
This water adjustment class is for children that are clearly ready to begin swim lessons without a parent in the water.  In addition to basic swimming skills, children will be introduced to proper swim positioning and back floating. 
Level 2 In this class children will further develop skill taught in level 1.  A greater emphasis is placed on proper swim positioning and the ability to float unassisted.
Level 3
In this level children will learn techniques such as effective breathing and how to use their arms efficiently.  For this class, children must be comfortable in the deep end.


Tadpole (ages 3 1/2 - 5 years)

Level 1 This introductory class focuses on water safety and developing confidence with basic swimming techniques.  Skills taught include proper swim positioning, swimming short distances unassisted and floating on their backs with minimal assistance.

Level 2 This level is designed for students who are capable of comfortably performing all the skills taught in level 1.  Students are ready to learn roll-overs, proper recovery in deep water, floating on their backs unassisted and elementary backstroke.

Level 3 In this level children with strengthen their roll-overs while swimming greater distances.  They will further develop elementary backstroke.

Level 4 In this level children will perfect elementary backstroke and be introduced to side-breathing.  They will also build stamina by swimming the length of the pool unassisted.

 

Seal (ages 5-6 years) Sea Lion (ages 7-9 years)
Level 1 This introductory class focuses on water safety and developing confidence with basic swimming techniques.  Skills taught include proper swim positioning, swimming short distances unassisted and floating on their backs with minimal assistance.

Level 2 In this level students will learn roll-overs and elementary backstroke while swimming the length of the pool.  Students will also learn proper recovery in deeper water and begin to build the stamina required for more advanced levels.

Level 3 This level is designed for students who are capable of comfortably performing all the skills taught in level 2.  Considerable stamina is built while focusing on correct freestyle and backstroke techniques.  Students often repeat this level due to the time it takes to properly perform these strokes.

Level 4 In this level students are taught breaststroke while strengthening the skills and strokes learned in prior levels.  Students often repeat this level due to the complexity of proper breaststroke.

Level 5 In this level students are taught butterfly while strengthening the skills and strokes learned in prior levels.  Students often repeat this level due to the complexity of proper butterfly

Stroke Mechanics (ages 5-14 years)
To qualify for this level, students need to perform all 4 strokes properly and with considerable endurance.  Attention is placed on technique by swimming drills similar to swim team practice.

Sting Ray (ages 10-15 years)

This mixed-level class is for older students from beginner to advanced.  Children may learn freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and water safety skills eventually moving to higher level classes as appropriate.  Students must be comfortable standing in water and/or swimming in the deep end.

Adult classes (Ages 15 and older) are also available

Private Lessons are available on an extremely limited basis due to the high demand of group lessons.  Private lessons depend on instructor availability and space in the pool.
